Herbs For Treating Ear Infections

 

The world of Ayurveda is full of herbs for ear diseases. In India, people are known to follow the ayurvedic (herbal) medicine. Ayurveda includes a large number of medicines which are used for various ailments and are also meant for prevention and rejuvenation. Medicines like Mahanarayan oil, Mahamash oil, Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa), Vacha (Acorus calamus) and Pippali (Piper longum) are used for dilating the blood vessels, strengthening the bones and preventing fluid retention. Medicines like Mandukparni (Centella asiatica), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Chandan (Santalum album) and Karanj (Santalum album) help in draining the inner ear. Medicines like Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Gandhak-Rasayan, Tapyadi-Loh, Ekang-Veer-Ras, Sharpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea), Kutki, Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Patha (Cissampelos pareira), Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Kutki, Tulsi and Pippali must be taken on a long term basis. Common causes of infections in adults include allergies including dust, pollen, mold and pet dander. Ear infections are also more common in pregnant women. They are particularly common in people who suffer from allergies.
